The winner is...Starting Fresh!

After spending several days researching, reading posts and having discussions with various people, I have come to a decision regarding moving this blog over to Wordpress.

OptiNiche's has some great advice in this post From Blogger to WordPress: Import or Start Fresh? and it was the deciding factor for me.

So, in order to avoid any duplicate content penalties, losing all backlinks, my alexa, technorati, and page rank, here is what I will be doing:

Step 1. I am leaving this blog here and have put it on a custom domain - http://www.makemoneyonlinewithejcooksey.com/ (this has been done)

Step 2. Start the new Wordpress blog. Add posts and make sure everything is working correctly.

Step 3. Slowing begin transitioning over to the new Wordpress blog by updating this blog every few days with summaries from the blog entries on my new blog.

Also, if you are signed up to my RSS feed or have a link to this blog on your site, please don't forget to update it with this blogs new url: http://www.makemoneyonlinewithejcooksey.com/

To Your Success!

Congratulations on domain name - it does feel good, doesn't it?

Interesting solution to moving your site, this side of things is outside my own experience, so I wish you luck. I get very tense about installing latest Wordpress, so what you're doing must be a major worry, especially as your site has a very respectable page rank. Hope everything continues smoothly;-D

    Thanks reward rebel!

That is one of the reasons I decided to do the change-over this way.

I figure that will give me more time to learn how to setup my wordpress blog and get it just the way I want it while also working on getting it some ranking of its own.

I heard it wasn't that hard to switch over to Wordpress to begin with.

I think everyone starts off with Blogger and ends up at Wordpress. I'm not quite there yet, but soon enough...

Let us know how the transition was when you're done!

It is nice to see this can be done. I would change the Blogger favicon with my own though ;-)

Jay a.k.a "dat' - It is not hard to switch over to Wordpress. The reason I decided not to was I didn't want to lose the pagerank I have built on this one. by building a new wordpress site and then linking to it from here and slowly switching over to it will help build the new site's rank up.

susanne - I will look into changing my favicon soon.

Andrew - I will check out Authoritysitecenter.com. Thanks for the information.

Good luck on the move! Leaving your existing blog intact is a wise move...you *can* transfer PR to the new blog by getting people to update their backlinks, but it's a tedious process and you won't catch all of them.

    Thanks Jay.

Regarding the backlinks: I know that I won't get all of the backlinks that I have here, but by linking the two blogs I should be able to get some of them...LOL!
