Affiliate Marketing: Why Haven't I Sold Any ________?

Presented By: EJ Cooksey | 11/18/2009 12:32:00 PM

This is a MUST if you are trying to make money online with affiliate marketing.

DO NOT make the same mistake I did:

I had not checked my affiliate links on my blogs in over 6 months and didn't know that the site I was using to shorten my links was no longer active. (When I checked my stats, I had not had a click on these links since the last part of May 2009). Almost all my affiliate links on my blogs were going to "Page not found" when clicked. It took me 3 or 4 days to get them all fixed.

Needless to say, my sales are way down for this year. I will not make this mistake again.

***Note:  It is also a good idea to check any outgoing links on your site to make sure they are going where they are supposed to go.  I had several links in my blogrolls that were not working. ***

Great tip, never thought to check some of my links for my affiliate links. I thought the video was helpful but the quality of the volume was very hard to hear on my end anyways. It probably was like I said on my end, just thought I'd mention it in case others have this problem. Wonderful tips! Thanks jj

Hi JJ,

With so much going on in my offline world...the kids, summer, then school starting again, I never thought to check them. I have now added it to my list of things to do monthly.

Sorry you had trouble with the sound on this video.
Boy, did that bring back some nightmarish memories:-) I also learned my lesson the hard way. I used to have a computer games site with hundreds of links that had to be changed. I now check my links about once a week.

P.S. jj, I had no problem with the audio.

Robert...Wow...sorry to hear about that. And I thought it was hard with less than a hundred links. Now I am thinking I should start checking them weekly also.
So many things to keep on top of! Good reminder that your links can become out of date one way or another. The sound for the video was fine for me by the way.

Hello Mark,

One of just a dozen or two...lol. I now have a schedule of things to do daily, weekly, monthly and so on. Hopefully that will prevent this from ever happening again.
Great tip EJ!! Thanks for the reminder! This is an absolute must - check those links. The same thing happened to me a while back...it's a hard lesson to learn! :)

Hi Brenda,
A very hard lesson...What bothered me the most is that I was working really hard to increase traffic to my sites and then find out that the links were not working for visitors when they clicked on them. I can only hope that my visitors will continue to come back now that I have them fixed.
Good point about some of the link shortner sites going down. I had read that several folded, but didn't put two and two together about why I was hitting so many "page not found" error's when I clicked links on various blogs and sites.

Hello Ann,

I just wish that the owner of the url shortener site would have let the people using the site know that they were closing. I am working on setting up a url shortener for my own use so I will not have this problem again.
Very important! I had a problem with links a little while back but it wasn't from the website I used to shorten them. It was the company I was promoting did some changes to programs and links to their websites :(

Another great reason to check your affiliate links. I had also found several of my affiliate links were out date or the product was no longer being sold. :(
HI, I now take more time to write on other blogs and find quick ways to advertise as like the (FREE) advertising Link above my Entrecard, Yes I know you dont get all the Bells and Whistles, But you do get advertised daily, and like you know , having 10 Kids your always looking for short cuts in every way you can.
I like coming to your site and looking over your ads besides watching the Google ads change when writing a new article. You have some great stuff here,
Best Wishes The Midnight Writer
It hurts so much to see our effort just fly like that :D
But human being always learn from experience and will never do the same, right?
